# Connect Claude Code

Last updated: 2026-10-22

Xodia's plugin connects Claude Code to Xodia and adds short /xodia commands. Claude Code then builds pages, fixes bugs and works through requests you send from Xodia's editor, while you watch the live preview.

_Picture: Xodia's New project dialog on its first step, with Connect your AI opened under Start fresh and Import from GitHub and the Claude Code tab open: install the Xodia plugin with two terminal commands, sign in with /mcp, try /xodia:build, and an optional permission rule._

## Before you start

- A Xodia account, on any plan.
- Claude Code on your computer. The plugin needs a recent version: the install step names the oldest that works.

## Install the plugin

These are the steps Xodia shows under Settings, AI agent, on the Claude Code tab.

1. Open Terminal (Mac) or PowerShell (Windows). No Claude Code yet? Install it first, as in the From Xodia steps.
2. Add Xodia's plugin marketplace.

   Terminal:

   ```
   claude plugin marketplace add https://app.xodia.ai/plugin/marketplace.json
   ```
3. Install the Xodia plugin. It adds the connection and short commands; skills load from your Xodia account. Needs Claude Code 2.1.224 or later.

   Terminal:

   ```
   claude plugin install xodia@xodia
   ```
4. Restart Claude Code, type /mcp, choose xodia and sign in.
5. Try it: run /xodia:build with what you want. To pick up requests you send from Xodia, run /xodia:work.

   In Claude Code:

   ```
   /xodia:build a landing page for my bakery
   ```
6. Optional: stop the approval prompts. Run /permissions and allow this rule.

   Permission rule:

   ```
   mcp__plugin_xodia_xodia__*
   ```

## The /xodia commands

Each command starts a ready-made job. Type it with what you want after it.

| Command | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `/xodia:build <what to build>` | Build or redesign a Xodia website from a description |
| `/xodia:work [project name]` | Listen for change requests from Xodia and work through them |
| `/xodia:animate <what should move, and when>` | Add interactions and animation to a Xodia site: hover, reveals, scroll effects, page transitions |
| `/xodia:content <what to add or change>` | Add or change CMS content and collections on a Xodia site: posts, projects, team, drafts |
| `/xodia:polish [page, section or component]` | Give a Xodia page or component a finishing pass on the small design details |
| `/xodia:fix [what looks wrong]` | Find and fix what's broken in a Xodia preview |
| `/xodia:review [project name]` | Review a Xodia project's unsaved changes before saving |
| `/xodia:seo [page or goal]` | Check and improve a Xodia site's SEO and AI search readiness |
| `/xodia:speed [page]` | Make a Xodia site load faster |

To pick up what you ask for in Xodia's ask box, run /xodia:work and leave it running. Claude Code takes each request, works on it, and replies in Xodia when it's done.

## Without the plugin

You can add Xodia as a plain MCP server instead. The commands then have longer names.

1. Add Xodia as an MCP server instead of the plugin. Commands then read /mcp__xodia__build.

   Terminal:

   ```
   claude mcp add --transport http --scope user xodia https://app.xodia.ai/mcp
   ```
2. The permission rule is then this one.

   Permission rule:

   ```
   mcp__xodia__*
   ```

## If it doesn't connect

### Xodia isn't in /mcp

Restart Claude Code after installing the plugin. Run claude plugin install again if it isn't listed, and check that Claude Code is up to date.

### Sign-in doesn't finish

In /mcp, choose xodia and sign in again. Your browser opens Xodia's approval page; sign in there with the account your projects are in.

### Claude Code asks before every tool call

Run /permissions and allow the rule from the last install step, so Xodia's tools run without asking each time.

> **Tip:** Prefer to send requests from Xodia without a terminal session open? The [Xodia helper](https://docs.xodia.ai/ai#helper) runs Claude Code from the ask box.
